Welcome to St. James & St. Archangel Michael!

Thank you for visiting our website!  We hope you will come visit us in the Kansas City.  We're just a 15 minute drive from downtown Kansas City, 30 Minutes from Liberty, and the KCI airport.

St. James a small, warm parish of Christian believers who come from all walks of life. Most of our parish is made up of pan-Orthodox converts, with a variety of backgrounds in the faith.  Our deepest desire is to make you feel welcome and at home as you come worship with us. We are very blessed by the folks at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church to be able to worship with them. St. Archangel Michael is an older more established parish with a beautiful church facility and devoted parishoners who work to bring the ancient faith to the western Kansas City area.

If you are new to the Orthodox faith, we invite you to visit our Inquirers page.  There you will find more information about what you will find and experience in the Orthodox Church.  If you have any questions about Orthodoxy, please feel free to email Fr. Mike Medis.

You are invited to join us for Divine Liturgy on Sunday mornings at 10:00.  Afterwards, please stay for our Coffee Hour and meet the friendly parishoners. You won't want to miss a smile and chat with Father Mike Medis either.  So what are you waiting for!

Message From Fr. Michael

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope you can also visit us in person. Our worship is both spiritual and sacred touching the core of our humanity. We believe that with prayer and attention we can awaken the cosmic religious feeling within us and keep it alive. This is what Albert Einstein said is the most important function of art and science. Our religious art through icons and sacred matter is what becomes windows into heaven. Ultimately, they are to reflect the image of the kingdom of heaven that is within you and me. Our spirituality is also grounded in Holy Scripture and Tradition of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. We believe, however, that our tradition is a Living Faith from the dead and not a dead faith of the living. Therefore, we pray Christ will continually give us light and life.

Grace & Peace be with you all,

Rev. Fr. Michael Medis
